Merit Badges
A
Scout needs a certain number and variety
of merit badges to advance to
the upper ranks of Boy Scouts.
Each merit badge shows that a
Scout has demonstrated knowledge and
proficiency in a particular skill
or activity. You can have a lot of
fun earning merit badges.
There are over 120 different merit
badges including Aviation,
Backpacking, Crime Prevention, First
Aid, Oceanography, Space
Exploration and many others.
There are a number of
locations on the Internet that have
information about Boy Scout merit
badges. A good website is www.meritbadge.com. Another one is usscouts.org.
On these websites you can find a
description of each merit badge as
well as a list of all the requirements
for that merit badge. You
can also find the merit badge
requirements sheet that you need to
print
off and keep track of the requirements
as you complete them for each
merit badge.
If
you have any questions about merit
badges, see Mr. Coleman, the Troop
216 Merit Badge Coordinator, or e-mail
your questions to meritbadge@troop216cary.org.
Merit Badge Schedule
Throughout
the year, Troop 216 merit badge
counselors offer a number of merit
badges to the boys in the troop.
The merit
badge schedule will be updated at
the beginning of each scout year and
refined as the scout year progresses.
