October
9 - 11
Occoneechee Council
Camporee
We
just
returned from the Nat-E-Con Occoneechee
Council
Camporee. This was
an event hosted by the Occoneechee
council conservation
committee. It was
held at Camp
Reeves
in Carthage
and
had over a hundred Boy Scouts and
Venture Crews in
attendance. The boys
attended presentations about nature
related merit badges.
They also had
an opportunity to learn to fly fish and
Geochace with GPS
devices. Our
troop played host to nine Webelos from
pack 216 who are visiting troops
as part
of their Arrow of Light
requirements.
Our
Scouts
did an excellent job helping the Webelos
attend the various
activities
and to teach them all a scout skill from
starting a fire to lashing a
pole. Of course we could not
escape the rain for the entire
weekend, and
once again, the rain came through as we
were sleeping just in time to
get
everything wet as we packed up.
Thank your to Mr. Keller for
planning
this event.
Thanks
to
everyone who attended these trips as
scouts and drivers.
We all had a
great, safe and exciting time.
